The trails are known to locals around Duluth. And during the summer, you can almost always find kids jumping off the rocks into the Lester river that runs swiftly below. However, the Lester River offers so much more than a watering hole.
"I love going hiking along the River," Duluth resident, Logan Strandjord said, "it's nice to get out of the everyday canal park, and Miller Hill Mall area. A place that is just a little bit less touristy."
If you're on a tight budget, but want to take in the beauty of a rushing waterfall, but don't have the means to travel to Gooseberry falls. No worries. The Lester River is full of these beautiful falls that won't leave you disappointed, but will make you want to stay forever.
Get the family or your friends ready to go for an afternoon on the trails, and be sure to pack a lunch! Along the trails, right next to the river, you can find gazebos, picnic benches and warm spots under the trees, perfect for a picnic in the wilderness.
"I love taking my boy down to the River in the summer," Duluth native, David Martin said, "we swim, take a break for a quick sandwich, and swim some more. He's 9-years-old, so it keeps him occupied and away from the TV and video games for a while."

No matter what season you choose to take in the beauty of the Lester River trails, the sight is truly one of a kind.
Conveniently located 15 minutes from Down town Duluth, you can take in the 15 mile long Lester River and tails. Hopefully you can take a break from the everyday stresses of life, put down the cell phone, turn off Facebook, and take sometime to enjoy everything that Northern Minnesota has to offer.
"Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather."
